RESEARCH

There’s been a recent uptick in the formal exploration of gender representation on stages, and much of the research is in regards to festivals. Each study’s criteria differ slightly, but all provide useful information on women’s parity across performance fields. Thanks to BookMoreWomen.com who compiled a portion of this list, and I encourage you to explore their highly effective festival poster campaign (which you may have seen on social media). Their clever visual aids provide a wake-up call as to the status of women’s representation at festivals. Lastly, check out the links on gender statistics in art mediums beyond music, at bottom.
